Program / Department Summary

MicroMentor is an initiative of Mercy Corps’ Innovations Team. At MicroMentor, our mission is to leverage the power of mentoring to help small businesses thrive. We do so by offering entrepreneurs direct access to a pool of committed professional volunteer mentors via an easy-to-use online community. MicroMentor has an expanding community making 10,000 mentoring connections every year. Entrepreneurs matched with a mentor have shown significant results in terms of improved job creation, business survival, and revenue growth.

MicroMentor is preparing to launch in Jordan to support strivers (microenterprises with growth potential) by providing them with access to critical resources, networks and skills to help 3500 to scale in 3 years. The training and capacity development, including through bootcamp services for MSMES is built on an existing initiative, Mercy Corps Youth Impact Labs.

General Position Summary

The Community Growth officer is a key member to launch and develop MicroMentor in Jordan by offering  an excellent service to partners engaged, conduct events to recruit entrepreneurs and mentors, offering dedicated support to MicroMentor Jordan Community, and support reporting to donors by acting as the voice of partners, entrepreneurs and mentors.

Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • Supporting staff at partner organizations in their outreach and marketing to participants, integrating partner organization and MicroMentor processes so that they run efficiently, co-hosting mentoring workshops with participants, and training partners  staff in providing customer service to their participants. 
  • Organize monthly check-ins with partners to understand progress and support in solving challenges.
  • Conduct co-evaluation with partners to understand the impact and prepare for further integration or scale, if possible.


  • Conduct events in partnership with relevant stakeholders to promote MicroMentor in the entrepreneurial and mentor community.
  • Manage FB/social networks community for MicroMentor Jordan.
  • Offer dedicated user support to mentors and entrepreneurs in the community by effectively responding any questions through Fb/other social networks – emails.
  • Gather at least 2 success stories every 3 months from MicroMentor Jordan community.
  • Create a bank of images that can show the impact of the initiative.
  • Represent the voices of the mentor, entrepreneur and partners to provide input into the MicroMentor Jordan platform.
  • Conduct user testing for MicroMentor platform with potential users when needed.


  • Support donor reporting with accurate data, lessons learned, recommendations and success stories.

  • As part of our commitment to organizational learning and in support of our understanding that learning organizations are more effective, efficient and relevant to the communities they serve, we expect all team members to commit 5% of their time to learning activities that benefit Mercy Corps as well as themselves.

Accountability to Beneficiaries

  • Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and development work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.


Reports Directly To: Program Manager, Mercy Corps.

Works Directly With: MicroMentor Global team, Mercy Corps Jordan.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 3 years of experience in any field related to partnership management, communication, community engagement, or content generation
  • University degree in Business or any related field 
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to effectively build interpersonal relationships
  • Proven track of supporting partners or allies.
  • Flexible approach and an ability to operate effectively with uncertainty and change
  • Driven, self-motivated, enthusiastic and with a “can do” attitude
  • Excellent organizational skills

Success Factors

This successful Community Growth Officer will exhibit a positive attitude, and capacity to build strong relationships. This individual will be passionate about delivering value to the MicroMentor users and partners, and to develop a strong community in Jordan that will set the foundation for scale in Middle East. H/she has a bias toward execution, the ability to establish and meet deadlines and work both independently and cooperatively with teams.
